I had the best Thanksgiving ever! My family, Nathan and I traveled to Big Bend National Park for Thanksgiving and we had the perfect camping spot in Chisos Basin. It was cold, very cold, every morning our tent was frozen over and every night, I thought I would wake up frozen. But I would totally camp there again during the winter because during the day, we had the perfect camping weather. I think we did more eating/cooking than we did hiking.
We used to come out here when I was younger with my dad and it took years for me to appreciate the park. Back then, I was more concerned with rushing back to Austin to catch my favorite band playing in downtown.
On top of that, they finally opened Boquillas Crossing in April 2013 after a decade of being shut down. Boquillas is a small pueblo located in Mexico, on the other side of the Rio Grande River. My sister and I traveled to Boquillas on burros (Donkey) and it was such a rewarding experience. I have many more photos to post but still in the process of editing them. I could not resist posting this photo of Nathan in front of Chisos Mountains! Look for more photos later.
