I love history and I love food. I love how food tells a story, it’s a moment when people who have completely different believes share a common thread.
We made pipa tofu for the first time. Pipa is a Chinese instrument and legend has it that Xi Shi, a Chinese princess loved tofu and so this dish is named after her.
We mixed together soft tofu, gulf shrimp, water chestnut, carrots, and ginger together and then we fried it and created a sauce to go over it. We served it on a bed of steamed broccoli. My dad was impressed that we cooked this dish.
